Letter: Former mayoral candidate Snow speaks out
I am writing this letter on how the voting process for elections was done by the city and county. I don’t feel it was done correctly, I have freedom of speech to say that, and how I was treated as a candidate by the city and county. The process was not done properly and fairly. The county could not handle the votes that were processed by absentee ballots and regular voting at the polls.
The heat is on … reluctantly
When I got home after work yesterday, the temperature in my house was 62 degrees. Maybe it was the gray day, but I immediately turned on the heater – contrary to my normal guy-like thinking that doing such a thing is equivalent to burning money.

Letter: Wake up, San Benito
Wake up, residents of San Benito! The comment period for the environmental impact report for the San Benito County General Plan ended last week, and it could have mean huge changes in the county. Major features of the Plan are four “New Community Study Areas” scattered out in the north part of the County, a large “Winery/Hospitality Priority” region, and lots of new and expanded roads. One of the New Community areas includes the site of the huge Rancho San Benito development that was proposed a few years ago between Hollister and Gilroy. Road plans would include extending Shore Road to Highway 101 near Y Road, and realigning Highway 25 in that area, which would also accommodate the Rancho San Benito development (could this also be the reason for a proposed expensive bridge across the San Benito River near Y Road?). The other New Community areas are west of San Juan Bautista, northeast of Hollister to the Santa Clara County line, and south of Hollister.

Letter: Measure E supporter asks for votes
Getting involved in the sales tax campaign was not an easy decision for me. I knew it would be met with resistance, in these hard times, but still I felt I needed to do something to maintain at least the same level of service. Honestly, for me it was just about not losing any more services; most notably public safety. I wanted to at least ask the residents for another five years of an existing tax because I thought it would be good for us as a community. I wanted to give you the choice to choose our path. I felt like it wouldn't be too much to ask the voters to continue Measure T because there was so much more to be lost than just that one penny spent on the dollar that we have already been paying.
