Editor,
The Freedom Rally and the Hollister-in-Black peace-at-any-price vigil continued July 1 during the motorcycle rally. An incident occurred midway through the one-hour celebration that was not reported.
There was one visitor in town that had a sign proclaiming his belief in Jesus Christ. I saw him going down the line of People-in-Black speaking to each. He supposedly made comments requesting support for Christians and opposing their support for the Moslems. When he reached the end of the line, one woman hit the visitor with her purse and started flailing away with her arms. It was several seconds before one of the men could restrain her.
When the police arrived, the visitor, who did not retaliate to the battery, refused to press charges. The visitor demonstrated peace and tolerance whereas the People-in-Black did not.
Maybe if we all gave up our freedom and accepted their beliefs, they would like us. I am not ready for that.
