Burglaries

Burglars broke through an office door at a school in the 600 block of College Street in Hollister between 6pm Thursday and 6am Friday, the Hollister Police Department said. Burglars took $6 in coins, $5 in food and a Sony radio worth $70, police said. There are no suspects.

Burglars broke the window of a Chevrolet Silverado truck in the 600 block of McCray Street in Hollister between 7 and 8:15pm Thursday, police said. Burglars took a driver’s license, credit cards, an unknown amount of cash and a purse, police said. There are no suspects.

Burglars used an unlocked rear door to enter a home in the 400 block of Hawkins Street in Hollister between 11 and 11:30am Friday, police said. Burglars took a computer worth $500 and jewelry worth $500, police said. There are no suspects.

Burglars entered a storage area of a business in the 100 block of Fifth Street in Hollister between 5pm Thursday and 5am Friday, police said. Burglars took windows worth $800 and shower metal worth $200, police said. There are no suspects.

Burglars entered a home in the 200 block of Gonzalez Drive in Hollister between 1:35am and 1:50am Saturday, police said. Burglars took VHS tapes worth $100 and men’s clothing worth $150, police said. There are no suspects.

Burglars used an unlocked sliding glass door to enter a home in the 2000 block of Carousel Drive in Hollister between 4:30pm and 9:30pm Friday, police said. Burglars took a laptop computer worth $600, a camera worth $480 and jewelry worth $80, police said. There are no suspects.

Burglars entered a home up for sale in the 300 block of El Toro Drive in Hollister between Jan. 1 and Sunday, police said. Burglars took 19 pieces of furniture worth $59,200, police said. Included was a hand-carved wet bar worth $25,000, art worth $12,000 and a rug worth $5,000, police said. There are no suspects.

Vehicle theft recovery

Police recovered a 2006 Volkswagen sedan stolen out of Gilroy in the 200 block of Gonzalez Drive in Hollister at 2:21am Saturday, police said. There are no suspects.

Vehicle theft

Ruth Elizabeth Crum, 42, of the 100 block of Elm Street in Hollister, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, a felony, after being stopped by CHP officers on Airline Highway south of Tres Pinos Road in Hollister at 1:01pm Friday, according to the CHP. Crum was allegedly driving a 2002 Honda Civic from Hollister, according to the CHP.

Driving under the influence

Pete Hernandez Jr., 39, of the 1300 block of Matador Drive in Hollister, was arrested by the CHP on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies turned him over to CHP officers on Santa Ana Road at San Benito Street in Hollister at 1:48am Saturday, according to the CHP.

Elvira Brauch Torres, 47, of the 1400 block of Yosemite Street in Seaside, Calif., was arrested by the CHP on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after CHP officers pulled her over on Highway 156 east of Buena Vista Road in Hollister at 12:01am Sunday, according to the CHP.

Brandon Leslie Corwin Venn, 32, of the 300 block of Chappell Road in Hollister, was arrested by the CHP on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after deputies turned him over to CHP officers on Business Highway 156 west of Graf Road in Hollister at 1:28am Sunday, according to the CHP.

Roberto Nunez, 43, of the 400 block of Chappell Road in Hollister, was arrested by the Hollister Police Department on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after responding to his home in the 400 block of Chappell Road at 11:35pm Saturday, police said. Nunez allegedly drove into his house, police said.

Luis Manuel Lezama, 27, of the 1200 block of Manzanita Drive in Hollister, was arrested by police on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after he did not obey an officer’s traffic direction in the 1200 block of Payette Circle in Hollister at 4:51am Sunday, police said.

Jonathan Beltran, 37, of the 200 block of Chaparral Court in Hollister, was arrested by police on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after an officer citing two men for urinating outside of Pancho’s on Fourth Street saw him attempt to park his car at 11:20pm Saturday, police said.

Susan Jamie, 44, of the 300 block of College Street in Hollister, was cited by police on suspicion of driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after crashing in the 500 block of Las Palmas Drive in Hollister at 5:26am Sunday, police said. Jamie was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital with cuts on the back of her head, police said.

Kidnapping

O.B. Frank Kitchens, of the 3700 block of Santa Ana Valley Road in Hollister, was arrested by deputies on suspicion of kidnapping, a felony, and threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, a misdemeanor, after deputies found him in a woman’s vehicle on Shore Road in Hollister at 9:50am Friday, deputies said. Kitchens had allegedly seen a woman he knew at Quikstop on San Felipe Road and demanded she drive him around, deputies said. Kitchens allegedly used threats of physical violence, deputies said. When Kitchens allegedly told the woman to drive to Gilroy, she tried to escape near Dunneville, deputies said. Kitchens allegedly grabbed her by the hair, deputies said. The woman escaped and called 911, deputies said.

Drug possession

Michael Angel Alvarez, 19, of San Jose, and Exequiel Lopez Jr., 19, of the 100 block of Gonzalez Drive in Hollister, were arrested by deputies each on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, after being pulled over on Highway 156 and Union Road at 11:15pm Saturday, deputies said. Alvarez was allegedly in possession of cocaine when he stepped out of the vehicle, deputies said. Deputies also allegedly found two blue pills, believed to be ecstasy, inside the vehicle, deputies said. Both Alvarez and Lopez were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

Beer bust

A 17-year-old Hollister boy was arrested by police on suspicion of theft for stealing two 30 packs of Bud Light from Baler Market on Third Street in Hollister at 7:16pm Friday, police said.

Drunk in public

Lawrence Grace, 39, of San Jose, was arrested by police on suspicion of being drunk in public, a misdemeanor, after police found him on the street too intoxicated to care for himself in the 1400 block of Gabilan Drive in Hollister at 7:57pm Friday, police said.

All those named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
