Police are asking the public for help in the investigation of a Jan. 13 shooting near an elementary school in northwest Hollister.

About 10:04pm Jan. 13, Hollister police received a call reporting gunshots fired in the area of 80 Gonzalez Drive, reads a press release from the city’s police department. As officers were responding, dispatch informed them that multiple gunshots had been fired at and around the Gonzalez Drive residence.

Officers arrived and met with a female who was in the area when the shooting occurred, police said. The officers searched the scene and did not find anyone who had been hit by gunfire.

During the initial investigation, officers determined that shots had been fired into the residence and into two vehicles parked in front of the home on Gonzalez Drive. Officers recovered additional evidence that a shooting had occurred in the area, but did not specify that evidence.

The shooting occurred about three blocks to the west of Calaveras Elementary School.

A silver-colored sedan was captured in video surveillance footage from a nearby address, police said. That image showed the vehicle speeding away from the area.

“Investigators are following all leads at this point and are asking for help from the community for tips or information that can lead to the arrest and conviction of those involved in this incident,” reads the press release.
