The Chieftains defeated San Benito 6-1 Tuesday

The San Benito boys tennis team remains in search of its first Tri-County Athletic League win after they fell 6-1 to Palma Tuesday in Salinas.

The No. 3 doubles team of Conner Baray and Jade Kimura picked up the lone win for San Benito, as they defeated Hunter Johnsen and Mickey Kenoyer 6-3, 7-5.

The ‘Balers (0-3 TCAL, 3-3 overall) will host Salinas Thursday at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club.

On Tuesday, the No. 1 doubles team of DJ Nielson and Jon Rudolfs fell to Chris Manlongat and Steven Rogalski 5-7, 3-6, while Austin Pan and Michael Labuguen lost to Corey Banks and Steven Hutchins 3-6, 3-6.

In singles, San Benito’s Derek Panger forced a third-set tiebreaker on Palma’s Nick Franscione, but lost 0-6, 6-4 (4-10).

No. 2 Mark Tobias also lost 3-6, 3-6 to Dan Cannane, while ‘Baler Joe Frusetta lost 0-6, 0-6 to Dominic Oltone. At the No. 4 spot, San Benito’s Tony Culler was defeated 2-6, 1-6 by Chieftain Jackson Scott.

The ‘Balers will host Salinas Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
