The board of supervisors will meet Tuesday to discuss whether to move forward on a proposed Transient Occupancy tax, better known as a “hotel” tax.
The county board meeting is set for 9 a.m. at the County Administration Building, 481 Fourth St.
The proposed tax would be levied on fees that tourists or travelers passing through San Benito County pay for lodging. The tax was first proposed by Supervisor Jerry Muenzer at a board meeting in early November. The rate would be raised from the current 8 percent to 12 percent, making it equal to the levy in San Juan Bautista. If the board approves the tax, it would have be added to the ballot for 2014 to be voted on by San Benito County residents.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the board will also consider a change to the San Benito County Parks and Recreation logo, as presented by the Parks and Recreation Commission.
