The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority came out in support of an environmental report that recommends the Pacheco Pass alignment, as seen in this map, for the state's high-speed train system.

HOLLISTER

The California High-Speed Rail Authority and the Federal Railroad Administration are set to prepare an environmental impact report on the San Jose to Merced section of the proposed high-speed train system, and citizens are invited to upcoming meetings to get an overview and ask questions.

Voters in November approved Proposition 1A to initiate the high-speed rail project. The system will run from San Francisco to Los Angeles while it is set to cross Pacheco Pass along the way.

Citizens at the meetings can get an overview of the proposal and participate in the discussion about it.

There are three such meetings in this region coming in March. The closest is in Gilroy from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 25 at the Roosevelt Community Center, Community Room B, 901 E. Santa Clara St. Two other upcoming meetings include one March 18 in Merced and another March 25 in San Jose.
