Public works official Julian Gaytan noted how the city has sand and bags available for residents – up to 10 each – at the city yard during the week and at Fire Station No. 2 on Union Road on the weekends.

Street crews responded to the first series of showers last weekend and took care of many fallen and split trees, while the sanitation workers have made sure flooding hasn’t caused issues in the catch basins, he said.

“We definitely were prepared before the storm (last weekend), but it still got us pretty good,” he said.
