During the Downtown fall cleanup, hosted by the Downtown Association, more than 55 people turned out to add a little shine to Hollister’s city streets. Many of the participants were from local Cub and Boy Scout troops as well as Girl Scout troops. For the boys, some of them received a clean-up patch to add to their uniform or they used the cleanup time toward another badge. The Girl Scouts can use the time toward an environmental patch.

Among the debris volunteers picked up along San Benito Street and other side streets, gum and cigarette butts were the most common. The next downtown cleanup will be in Spring 2008.
