CUPERTINO

Behind a two-hit performance from Melinda Ortiz, the Gavilan College softball team picked up its third win in a row last Thursday when it staved off host De Anza College 2-0 in Cupertino.

Ortiz stuck out 11 batters in the victory, which improves the Rams to 3-1 in the Coast Conference South, 6-13 overall.

Hollister’s Haley MacFarlane provided a pair of hits for Gavilan, while Audra Brown knocked in one of the team’s two runs in the first inning.

The Rams participated in a tournament at Ohlone College in Fremont last weekend, although results were not reported at press time.

Gavilan will host Foothill College Tuesday in Gilroy at 3 p.m.
