Mark Medina raised and spent more than opponent Mark Starritt through the latest filing period in the race to succeed Margie Barrios as District 1 county supervisor, records show.
Medina through the latest filing period ending May 21 had raised $24,360 to $12,829 for Starritt, according to records filed with the elections office.
The two will face off Tuesday in the primary election, with no runoff needed in November.
Most of Medina’s contributions came from himself through the filing period for which candidates had to submit campaign finance documents by late last week.
Medina lent himself $13,388 through May 21, while Starritt lent himself $2,500 through the same date, according to their records.
Medina raised $10,474 in cash contributions. Starritt raised $10,325 in cash through the period.
As for payments, Medina spent $18,111 and Starritt spent $10,319 through May 21, according to the records.
Looking at some of the specific contributions, Starritt received $4,500 from the San Benito County Republican Party and $1,500 from the Agricultural Leadership PAC. Medina received $500 from the following: Peggy and Ray Pierce, Zanger Land Co., Hollister Firefighters Union, Casa de Fruta and the Santa Clara and San Benito Counties Building & Construction Council PAC, according to records.
