A crews of contracted workers hired by Union Pacific lay pavement last week over a railroad crossing at Hillcrest Road at McCray Street.

The Union Pacific Railroad will be doing some repairs on the
line that runs from Gilroy to Hollister starting Jan. 19, and it
might affect traffic in those areas, according to Steve Wittry, the
county’s public works director.
The Union Pacific Railroad will be doing some repairs on the line that runs from Gilroy to Hollister starting Jan. 19, and it might affect traffic in those areas, according to Steve Wittry, the county’s public works director.

Wittry informed the San Benito County supervisors Tuesday about the coming work, which should include replacement of outdated structures along the way.

He estimated that around the first week of February, Union Pacific would be in the downtown area of Hollister doing work at two particular intersections along the line, at Hudner Lane and at Wright Road. Locals could see impacts on traffic in those areas as well, he said.
