“We had some real opportunities,” head coach Chris Cameron said. “We had some opportunities down here in the red zone, and we came away with nothing. That part can’t happen. We’ve got to be able to put the ball in the end zone.”
Quarterback Kyle Vallejo was 9 of 31 for 113 yards and a touchdown for San Benito (0-1), which will play Lincoln at home Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Evan McFadden hauled in two catches for 38 yards, including a 26-yard score in the second quarter. Milpitas, though, had a 17-0 lead after one quarter and led 24-6 at halftime.
San Benito senior running back Mitchell Cook, who finished the game Friday with 7 carries for 40 yards, was lost for the season after he broke his collarbone.

MILPITAS – The San Benito girls volleyball team compiled a 2-3 record at the Milpitas/Independence Spikefest tournament on Saturday, but missed the Bronze Division by a mere two points.
The Lady Balers (4-7) won their opener against Independence in straight games, lost to Valley Christian in straight games, and went to a third game against Los Altos, but fell 16-14 in the third.
“If we had won that one, that would have put us in the Bronze Division, which is what our goal was,” coach Dean Askanas said.
The team hosted Aptos Thursday, although that game took place after The Pinnacle’s press time.
