It was another busy week in South County; lots of things were happening between King City and Hollister. We also had another nice shot of rain on Saturday evening, which sure does help the grass grow!

Bitterwater Tully School hosted its annual Tri-Tip BBQ fundraiser last Sunday afternoon in King City. It was a delicious BBQ, with a wonderful bake sale to go along with it. Proceeds from the BBQ help fund the many field trips that the school goes on.

Speaking of fundraisers, the E-Cubed Foundation is hosting its annual Trial Ride and Dinner on Saturday, April 28, at the historic Paicines Ranch in Paicines. The event will be held rain or shine and it should be a great event. After the trail ride, which includes snacks and dinner, there will be a fabulous auction. Some items being auctioned off include a summer condo at Tahoe’s popular Northstar Resort, a BBQ and trap shoot as the RS Bar guest ranch and many more unique and exciting items. The E-Cubed foundation funds many of the rural school arts, science and field trip activities. Tickets for the trail ride and dinner are $185 per person or you can purchase dinner tickets only at $85 per person.

John and Susan Nino have been busy branding their calves the past few weeks. Last week they branded at Dave Shields’ place on Thursday, followed by branding at the Wild Horse Ranch on Friday. Some of those helping out included Stacey Schmidt, John Flook, LeeAnn Falsey and AJ, Blake Teixera, Ross Rianda, JW Brewen and me, Todd and Brody.

The Schmidt Family held a small Easter gathering last Saturday at Tully Hall. It was cold, windy and rainy but the few that were there enjoyed the day. Some of those attending included Jeff, Jean and Steve Schmidt, Jeff, Shari and Melissa Popnoe, Ted, Diane and Bob Schmidt and Maggie, Nancy Hillian and Elaine Castle and Alvin and Eva Lou Bray.

Congratulations goes out to Tracy Eade-Eggleston as she was the big winner last Saturday evening at the San Benito County Cattlemen’s Association Reverse Draw and Dinner Dance. Not only was she a big winner, but her Aunt Jae Eade was a winner too as was Tracy in the Calcutta! Way to keep it in the family, guys! The event was another big success and a good time was had by all.

Congratulations also goes out to Andy Barrington who was named All Around Champion for the second year in a row at the Monterey County Cattlemen’s Association Ranch Rodeo that was also held last Saturday in King City. Andy was awarded a beautiful new ranch saddle in memory of Bob Wilson of Carmel Valley.

Have a great Easter everyone and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected] with any news you’d like to share.
