San Mateo – The San Benito girls soccer team rebounded from an 8-0 loss Saturday against Woodside Priory to battle South San Francisco to a 0-0 tie Tuesday in action in the Burlingame Thanksgiving Invitational.

“The girls just came out flat and tired against Woodside,” coach Mike Schurig said. “We just didn’t play that well and Woodside is too good of a team to do that against. (Tuesday) the girls came out and played much, much better.”

The ‘Balers had a chance to win the game against the Warriors on a late free kick by senior Brittany Huth, but her shot sailed about six inches over the crossbar.

“We tried some new things and were very, very successful,” Schurig said.

San Benito returns to tournament action Friday at 1:30pm when it plays Sobrato at San Mateo High.
