Editor,
I have just read your article about the students getting e-mail accounts through the school. I believe this is a great idea.
Students need the opportunity to communicate with teachers and need the ability to send projects or stories to them. The e-mail account Web sites have been blocked so we are incapable of checking our e-mail.
This new policy is also good for the students who do not have e-mail access at home. They will be able to apply for college here at school because colleges are now requiring us to have e-mail accounts.
However, there is going to have to be a lot of filtering because students may try to misuse the e-mail accounts. If the school uses the right programs and spyware blockers, the e-mail accounts should be fine and work properly. Teachers would also be monitoring the use of these e-mail accounts to ensure proper use.
I believe that allowing students to have access to e-mail accounts at school will provide a great service in helping the students achieve greatness.
