Hollister – Mike Smith has left the County Planning Commission, but his replacement could be a familiar face to locals.

Supervisor Jaime De La Cruz recently nominated Robert Scattini, county marshal and former Hollister city councilman, to fill the seat. De La Cruz appointed Smith to the commission in 2005.

The Board of Supervisors will consider confirming Scattini’s appointment at its meeting today at 9:30am in the County Administration Building, 481 Fourth St. in Hollister.

Smith plans to leave the Hollister area for professional reasons. De La Cruz said he interviewed around 10 potential replacements and settled on Scattini as the top choice.

“Mike Smith was always pro-economic development and he worked hard to meet my district’s needs,” De La Cruz said. “Robert Scattini seemed to be a good match … It was important that the same level of services not be disrupted, especially in the midst of hot topics like the Tres Pinos hotel.”
