COG’s transportation planning manager says it should take longer
due to problems with pavement recently laid by the contractor.

The opening of the Highway 25 bypass has been pushed “a little farther out” from the most recent mid-November projection, Council of San Benito County Governments Transportation Planning Manager Mary Dinkuhn told the Free Lance.
“There are some problems with the pavement put in by the contractor,” explained Dinkuhn, who added that those problems involved cracks in the newly laid sections. “We are looking at solutions to resolve the problem, so it is hard to say when they bypass will open.”
Dinkuhn went on to say that the planned mid-November date could be pushed to late November, but underscored that it’s impossible to say exactly how long it would take to fix the cracked pavement.
“Other than that setback, we are in the final stages of construction,” continued Dinkuhn. “We are putting together finishing touches like fencing and drainage and making sure the signals are ready so they will be energized when we open the bypass.”
