Longtime sweethearts Kiely White and John Pierre Holcomb, who both attend California State University, Chico, plan to get marry June 27 at Leal Vineyards in Hollister.

Cameron and Susan White of Pacific Grove and Pete and Karen Holcomb of San Juan Bautista announce the engagement of their children, Kiely White and John Pierre Holcomb.

J.P proposed on Christmas Eve 2007 after he and Kiely had been dating since high school. They graduated from Anzar High School in 2003. They are both attending California State University, Chico, and will graduate in May.

Kiely will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance. She is the president of Beta Alpha Psi. Upon graduation she will work for Hayashi & Wayland Accounting & Consulting in Salinas.

J.P. will graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering. He is the treasurer of Tau Beta Pi. He will be employed by Graniterock Company of Watsonville.

The wedding is set for June 27 and will be held at Leal Vineyards in Hollister. The couple will honeymoon in Europe before starting their new jobs and life together.

Thomas Birmingham

Army National Guard Pvt. Thomas G. Birmingham has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

He is the son of Tom Birmingham of Hollister and a 2003 graduate of Santa Clara High School.

Rebecca Ammerman

Airman Rebecca G. Ammerman graduated April 18 from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During an intensive six weeks of training, she and her flight were drilled on the Air Force mission, its organization, and military customs and courtesies. They mastered not only drill and ceremony marches, but field training exercises and rifle marksmanship.

Rebecca is the daughter of Melissa Ammerman and a 2006 graduate of Anchorpoint Christian High School.
