The Seniors Council will distribute vouchers to seniors at the
June 8 Hollister Farmers’ Market, beginning at 3 p.m. as part of
the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Voucher
Distribution.
The Seniors Council will be visiting local Farmers’ Markets in
order to provide nutritional information and distribute vouchers
for food purchase. The $20 vouchers can be used at certified
farmers’ markets to purchase fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, fresh
herbs or honey. The vouchers are free to seniors who are 60 years
or older and are considered low income (below $1670/ month for a
one person household, or $2247/ month for a two-person household).
Vouchers will be distributed on a first come, first served basis,
and are limited to only one voucher per family per year. Nutrition
education materials and community senior services information will
also be available for anyone who is interested regardless of age or
income. Vouchers will only be distributed at the Farmers’
Markets.

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a federally funded program which provides low-income seniors with check booklets that can be used to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs at Certified Farmers’ Markets (CFM).
The program is administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Agency, and in California, by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), in partnership with local Area Agencies on Aging.
