Candidates in races throughout the county turned in their latest campaign finance reports, which had to be postmarked by Monday. The races for sheriff and two open seats on the county board of supervisors generated the most fundraising and spending activity.
In the race for sheriff, Darren Thompson reported raising $6,442 during the latest period, from Oct. 17 through Dec. 31. Thompson, who defeated Pat Turturici in the race, spent a total of $9,110 in the period and had a cash balance of $318. Overall, he raised and spent slightly more than $43,000, according to his campaign report.
Turturici raised $4,560 during the period but also lent his campaign $10,000. He spent $29,231 during the period and had an ending balance of $10,475, according to his report. Overall, he spent more than $133,000.
