Two quick goals in the first half supplied all the offense the Balers would need to earn the win. Brian Cruz made it a 1-0 game in the 10th minute, while teammate Martin Navarro tacked on a second score in the 11th minute to make it 2-0 — a score that held until halftime.

Palma finally got on the scoreboard, and cut the deficit in half, in the 50th minute when Zack Werner set up a goal by Javier Ramirez, but San Benito responded less than 15 minutes later when Ivan Martinez reclaimed the two-goal lead in the 64th minute.

San Benito keeper Manuel Garcia made three saves in the win, which improves the Balers to 5-4-1 in the TCAL, 11-4-2 overall.

The Balers will return to Hollister next week to wrap up its regular season slate. San Benito will host Alisal on Tuesday and Alvarez on Thursday. Both games are scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
