Jose, and will square off at No. 5 Santa Teresa in Wednesday’s
opening round.

The San Benito girls’ soccer team earned the No. 12 seed in the Central Coast Section Division I Championships on Saturday in San Jose, and will square off at No. 5 Santa Teresa in Wednesday’s opening round.

Santa Teresa went 10-4-6 overall this season.

Wednesday’s winner will advance to Saturday’s quarterfinal round to play against No. 4 Watsonville (15-3-1).

The Balers, meanwhile, compiled a 14-1-5 overall record and finished runner-up in the Tri-County Athletic League after going 10-1-1. San Benito finished behind league champion Gilroy (11-0-1, 14-2-4), which earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye.

St. Francis (14-3-3) earned the top seed and Mountain View (13-2-5) was No. 3, with each team receiving a first-round bye as well.

Other matchups in the Division I playoffs include No. 11 Silver Creek (15-4-1) against No. 6 Monta Vista (7-7-5); No. 10 Leland against No. 7 Woodside (11-6-2); and No. 9 Carlmont (7-6-7) against No. 8 Gunn (9-6-5).

Note:

The San Benito boys’ soccer team, which finished third in the TCAL with a 6-5-1 record, 12-5-2 overall, did not receive a seed into the Central Coast Section Division I Championships.
