South County weather goes from warm to cold
What is going on with the weather these days? We get a few warm,
beautiful days and I think we’re into a spring-like pattern. Then
we get close to freezing temperatures in the morning and cold,
windy afternoons! Mother Nature is sure messing with us these days
and I am definitely ready for some serious warm weather.
Congratulations to Matt Hearne who competed in and finished the
annual San Antonio Lake Wildflower Triathlon a few weekends ago.
Matt has participated in the event for several years now and he
trains very hard for it. According to Matt, he says he didn’t do as
well as he had hoped this year but I’m sure he did just great. Just
participating and finishing the event is a huge accomplishment!

While Matt was competing at the Triathalon, Dana Hearne spent the weekend with some college friends at the annual Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation Trail Ride. The ride was held at a ranch outside of Soledad this year. At least they had some nice weather for their ride that weekend! Dana had a great time with the girls.

I hope you all remembered your moms last Sunday for Mother’s Day. I was very spoiled this year as Brody bought me breakfast that morning, Todd got me the most beautiful bouquet of roses and lilies, Sierra brought me a beautiful bouquet of roses and daisies and Buddy bought me my own iPod so I don’t have to borrow his anymore! We also spent the afternoon with family and friends roping and barbecuing. It was a great day.

The Salinas Valley Fair begins this week in King City. And wouldn’t you know it, they’re calling for rain! The fair kicks off on Thursday with all the livestock judging in the morning and the rides starting at 3 p.m. Friday is showmanship day for all livestock exhibitors and a roping in the arena. Saturday is a jackpot barrel race and bull riding in the arena and the junior livestock auction followed by the Fiesta Day Celebration on Sunday. It is supposed to rain Saturday evening and Sunday so if you go, be prepared for inclement weather.

The San Benito Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo is right around the corner. We received our flyer in the mail the other day so I’m sure entries will be out in the mail soon as well.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@*ol.com with any news you’d like to share.
