School starts up in South County
Summer is quickly coming to an end in South County. I don’t know
where the time has gone. King City High School is back in session
already and other South County schools will be starting in just a
few weeks. It doesn’t seem fair to the high school kids. They just
got out on June 17th and now they’re already back to school.
Birthday wishes go out to my dad who celebrated his birthday on
July 27. We celebrated his birthday with him at Ridgemark after he
shot a round of golf with the grandkids. Still don’t know who won
the golf match as everyone has their own version! Hec Hurley
celebrated his birthday on the 27th as well.

Plans are well under way for the upcoming Hollister PBR that will take place at Bolado Park on Sept. 3. The weekend will kick off with a golf tournament and pre-party at Ridgemark on Sept. 2, followed by the bull riding on the 3rd. Some well-known riders that promise to be there so far include Hollister’s own Brendon Clark, Rocky McDonald and the “Last Man Standing Champion” Luke Snyder. Well known NFR and PBR Bullfighter Joe Baumgartner will be here this year and singer/announcer Luke Kaufman will be calling the action from the sidelines. This is an extraordinary event that not only brings in high quality talent and entertainment, but many of the proceeds are distributed to nonprofit organizations within the area as well. Event promoters Billy and Dana Aviles and Alex and Laura Naccarato work tirelessly to bring this show to the community so make sure you mark your calendars for this event as it is a great event to attend. For more information on the event, contact either Billy or Dana Aviles or Alex or Laura Naccarato. Tickets are on sale now.

The 2011/2012 High School Rodeo season is getting ready to begin again. District 4 will be holding their general membership meeting on Aug. 24 at the 101 Livestock Market at 7 p.m. The meeting is open to all new and returning members. Memberships will be taken that evening as well as the choosing of event directors and job assignments. This meeting will also include information and memberships for the Junior High Division as well so if you have any kids in grades sixth-12 who are interested in junior or high school rodeo, be sure to attend this meeting.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected] with any news you’d like to share.
