Guess what? Spring has finally arrived! We had beautiful weather
out here in Bitterwater last week. The wildflowers are popping up
all over the place and the dreaded rattlesnakes are out too. The
fog has helped cool things off a bit in the mornings, but it has
been getting warm in the afternoon. Finally!

Birthday wishes go out to Natalie Madson who celebrated her 13th birthday last Thursday, April 27th. She celebrated her birthday dinner at the Hacienda Restaurant with her family and Sierra Jo. Happy Birthday Nat!

Get well wishes go out to Heidi Hurley who had eye surgery last week. She is home and on the road to a quick recovery.

Anniversary wishes go out to Hec and Kasey Hurley who celebrated their 10th anniversary last week and to Billy and Karen Whitney who celebrated their 25th anniversary a few weeks back.

Congratulations goes out to Cash Robinson for winning the steer riding at his first Nor-Cal Junior Rodeo a few weeks ago with a score of 88 on his eight-second ride. His Mom Ellie is quite proud of him, rightfully so.

Congratulations also goes out to all those who participated in the 3K Run that benefited San Lorenzo Middle School last weekend. When I figured out that 3K was equivalent to 12 laps around the high school track, my respect really went out to all those who ran! I’d probably have a tough time making it one time around the track, let alone 12 times! Some of those who participated and earned medals included Marcia Green, who won first in her division, Ralph and Joy Flores who both won second in their divisions, Teri Umbarger who won second in her division and Grace Pope who won third in her division.

The King City Little League’s annual chicken BBQ was held last Sunday at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. It looked like they had a great turnout and as usual, the food was delicious. Some of those helping out with the days duties included the Flores Family, The Pope Family, The Umbarger Family, The Kosty Family, Kanani Barbree, Nancy Kelly and Shay Bennett.

There’s less then three weeks left before the Salinas Valley Fair begins. Many 4-H and FFA members have been busy getting their animals ready for the fair. Entries for the Ranch Rodeo have been sent out and are due this week so be sure to get yours in if you haven’t already done so.

Until next week, enjoy the great weather, watch out for rattlesnakes and be sure to give me a call or e-mail at [email protected] with any news you’d like to share.
