Football season starts out with optimism
Are you ready for some football? I know I am. I can’t wait! It
gets real exciting around here at the beginning of football season
as we all think our teams are Super Bowl bound for the first few
weeks of the season! This year I’m participating in an all-girls
Fantasy Football League, which should make football season even
more fun now!

Are you ready for some football? I know I am. I can’t wait! It gets real exciting around here at the beginning of football season as we all think our teams are Super Bowl bound for the first few weeks of the season! This year I’m participating in an all-girls Fantasy Football League, which should make football season even more fun now!

Melissa Popnoe, granddaughter of Jeff and Jean Schmidt, arrived in Bitterwater last Friday afternoon to spend some time with Jeff and Jean. While down here, she spent some time at our place visiting with her cousins as well. The kids had a great time hanging out on Friday afternoon and evening.

We spent the weekend roping and rodeoing again. Last Saturday we spent the afternoon with the Bell Family roping, then Sunday morning we all headed up to Hayward for another junior rodeo. Participating from our area were the Stelling Family, Brittany Gilroy, Madison Hawkes, Cash Robinson, Dawson and Lila Bell and Sierra and Brody Sans. Congrats to all the kids on another successful rodeo, and to Cash for winning the junior bulls and second in the team roping with Brody, and to Brody for winning the steer riding and the Junior All-Around Cowboy. This weekend the kids will be practicing with Kyle Lockett at a team roping school before heading out the following weekend to Laton and Oakdale. They sure do keep us busy!

A membership meeting for the California High School Rodeo Association, District 4, will be held next Thursday, August 19th at the 101 Livestock Market. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in high school or junior high school rodeo.

School starts for many San Benito students next week. Thank goodness South County kids don’t start until August 30th. We still have a few weeks of fun left!
