There were lots of ghosts and goblins down in South County last Saturday night as Heike Baumgartner hosted the annual Bitterwater Tully School Halloween party at Tully Hall. As usual, Heike did an outstanding job. There were plenty of games and candy for all the kids to enjoy. The Beaver Dam Fire Department was on hand again to judge the costume contest, which is always a difficult job. The Schwarz Family did a fine job on their costumes this year as they all won their respective age groups in the costume contest.

Allison won the 0-3 age group dressed up as Scoobie Doo, Breanna won the 7-8 age group dressed up as “Breanna, Queen of the Nile” and Mom Ellen won the

Ladies’ contest all decked out as a “biker chick” tattoos and all! Brody won

the 5-6 age group dressed up as Jesse James and Natalie Madson won the 9-10 year olds dressed up as a vampire. There was the usual cakewalk, cake auction and jailhouse as fundraisers. Some of those from the community who stopped by included: Alberta Rist, Tracie Eade-Jones with Megan and Tel, Matt Reeden, Jeff and Jean Schmidt, Jerry and Alma Carlsen, Donna Palmer, Donna Hansen, Craig, Jennifer and Kaitlyn Beach and Ed, Jessica and Julie Tully. A great time was had by all and thanks to all those who came and participated in our fundraiser.

Don’t forget, if you’re looking for early Christmas presents that the students of Bitterwater Tully School are still selling See’s Candy. They will be selling until Nov. 1, so if you want to place and order, please get in touch with any of the students before then.

The Grand National Horse Show and Rodeo is in full swing up at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Lance and Jessica Miller were up last Saturday night.

With some unfortunate news, Laurence Hansen’s sister, Marilyn Gaddis,

died last week in Paso Robles after a year-long battle with cancer. Marilyn,

raised in Hollister, was the daughter of Dorothy Harlan of Tres Pinos and

sister to Laurence and Bob Hansen. She leaves behind her husband Ralph of

Paso Robles, daughter Michelle Rupert, sons Mike and Mark Ward and three

grandchildren. Our condolences go out to the entire family.

Hope you all have a safe and Happy Halloween this week; please be

careful when driving as there will be lots of little ghouls and goblins

running around the streets. If you have any news you’d like to share, give

me a call or e-mail me at
