I can’t believe it, the weathermen were finally right! They
promised us a nice wet weather pattern last week and they did
deliver what they promised! Rain was the big topic of conversation
down in South County last week. Everyone was in a good mood over
the weekend!

Down in Long Valley, The Madson Family reported a total of 1.60 inches.
In Bitterwater, the O’Connor Family reported close to 3 inches while up Old
Hernandez way the Donham Family reported a total of 3¼ inches over the total course of the storm. Here in the Topo Valley we got a total of 2.13 inches. Not only was it a wet storm, but it was a warm one as well. Should really get the grass started now and we hope it keeps on coming. It was so wet last weekend that the Donham Family had to cancel their branding Saturday, although due to the circumstances I’m sure J.D. didn’t mind canceling one bit! Hope everyone enjoyed the rain as much as we all did down here in South County.
The Home Department held its monthly meeting last Wednesday at Bear Valley Hall. Fern Fancher, Rose Prewett, Peggy Kingman and Ann Spencer were a few of the women who showed up for clean up day. They got the hall nice and clean for the upcoming December meeting. They haven’t set a date for that one yet but once they do I’ll be sure to let you all know. That is one of the best meetings of the year so you won’t want to miss that one.
A big congratulations goes out to Fern Fancher, who was recently selected
as San Benito County Cowbelle of the Year. I’m sure that was a very well-deserved honor.
The Bitterwater Tully School went on a fun field trip last Saturday. We met down at the school at noon, loaded up on the bus and went to Palo Alto to watch the Stanford vs. USC football game. The game itself wasn’t too good, but the atmosphere and experience was just great for the kids. Most of them had never been to a college game and they all had a great time. Despite predicted rain showers, the weather held up perfectly and we all stayed dry and warm the entire time. Those who went on the trip included: Aimmee, Allie and A.J. Palmer, Brysan O’Connor, Shane, Sami and Cynnie O’Connor, Juan, Edwin and Lupe Mendoza, Cody and Kindra King, Caroline, Natalie, Jeanine, John and Marianne Madson, teacher Mr. Williams and Buddy, Sierra Jo and me. Helen Matulich, an alumni of Stanford and faithful Cardinal football fan, was there somewhere in the crowd too but we didn’t find her. It was a great field trip and everyone had a wonderful time.
The weather is supposed to warm up a bit this week and hopefully we’ll
be hit with another wet weather pattern soon, until then, enjoy the rain we got but pray for more soon! Until next week, if you have any news you’d like
to share, give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected].
