Bridal showers and birthdays celebrated
Just when you think it’s over, the rain comes back again! No
complaints here though, it’s just another beautiful day in paradise
in South County. As long as it’s raining, the grass keeps growing
and the wildflowers bloom a little while longer. What a great year
we’re having, the storms have been timing out perfectly. Everyone
should be happy this year.

Folks kept busy last week in South County. There were lots of celebrations, events and activities taking place.

Big Jim Smith celebrated a big birthday last Saturday and his daughter, Lisa Smith, hosted a 90th birthday party for him at the Rock Springs Lodge. Seems like the entire Bitterwater community was on hand to celebrate with Jim. It was a beautiful, warm spring day and lots of celebrating was going on. Some of those on hand to celebrate with Jim included: Johnny Joe and Darlene Maggini, Jeff and Jean Schmidt, Laurence and Donna Hansen, Doug and Lynn Dodge, Ruth Records and Roberta Oswald, Ernie and Rose Prewett, Jo Ann Scattini, Les and Betty Sans, Shelly Franklin, George and Sandy Rose, George and Donna Palmer, JoAnn Falsey and Jerry Carlsen, just to name a few. Jerry did a great job barbecuing and Cynnie O’Connor did a great job catering the event. Happy Birthday Jim, here’s wishing you many more birthdays to enjoy!

Jamii Pura and Jae Eade hosted a beautiful bridal shower last Friday evening at Jamii’s home in honor of bride to be, Kyla Prunty. A delicious dinner was served to many guests who were on hand to help Kyla celebrate. Some of those enjoying the evening included: Sandy Rose, Jo Ann Scattini, Michelle Prewett, Jeanie Coefield, Dee Cee Donati, Tina Bourdet, Ginger Taliaferro, Nicole Nelson, Cory Hitchcock, Joelle Bautista, June, Kristy, Wendy, Brooke and Julie Rianda, Danielle Craig, Jamie Reid, Audra Mendonsa, Stacey Schmidt, Kasey Hurley and myself, just to name a few. Kyla and John Rianda will be getting married on July 31 in Elko, Nev. It will definitely be a fun wedding to attend.

The King City Riding Club hosted the annual Grady Lafferty Memorial Junior Rodeo last Sunday at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. Congratulations to Cheyenne Rey for winning the All-around Cowgirl title and adding another new saddle to her collection. Congrats also to Cash Robinson and David Porteur for winning the Family Team Roping.

The Salinas Valley Fair is right around the corner, less than a month away. The fair kicked off the season by hosting the Fair Kick Off Dinner last Saturday night. There was a delicious dinner, followed by a live and silent auction and dance. Andy Barrington was celebrating his birthday so he danced the night away all evening long. Happy Birthday Biscuit, you old man! The dates for the fair are May 13-16.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected] with any news you’d like to share.
