Bad weather dampens King City football match
It sure was classic football weather last Friday night in King
City. The weatherman called for a chance of showers in the
afternoon but clearing for Friday night football. Well, he was
wrong! Anyone who attended Friday night’s game in King City got
soaked! The kids sure seemed to enjoy it but any parents who
listened to the forecasters may not have! We got a quarter of a
inch of rain here at home that evening but I bet they had at least
half an inch in King City. Unfortunately, King City was unable to
get the win against the Greenfield Bruins, but I’m sure the boys
had fun in the mud anyway.

Jeff and Jean Schmidt had a house full of guests last weekend. Their daughter Shari, son-in-law Jeff and Granddaughter Melissa arrived from Truckee to spend the weekend. Melissa was bringing her horses home to Papa Jeff and Grandma Jean’s for the winter. It gets too cold and snowy for the horses in Truckee over the winter. On Saturday morning, Jeff’s cousin, Ken Jones, his wife Karen and their daughter’s, Danika and Mariella arrived from Santa Barbara. The girls had a great time together while the men worked on repairs on Jeff’s 130-year-old barn.

Saturday evening Vern Scattini joined them all for dinner and invited the girls over to see he and Jo Ann’s baby colts. Everyone had a great weekend and headed back to their homes on Sunday.

After arriving back in Truckee, Shari was scheduled to have knee replacement surgery. After her successful surgery, Jean headed up to Truckee to help out with Shari’s recovery. Hope you’re up and around soon Shari!

Congratulations to the Falsey Family on some wonderful news from their doctors. Rhett recently returned home from his five-year checkup at Stanford and was officially declared a five-year cancer survivor. According to Mom, Kelly, they no longer have to see the oncologist. Congratulations to all on such great news!

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Hollister resident, quilter and gardener extraordinaire Dorothy Harlan. Dorothy passed away last Sunday at home. I had the pleasure of visiting with Dorothy about quilting a few times and she was quite a character. She will be missed by so many, my condolences go out to all of family and friends, I know there were many.

Birthday wishes go out to Tatum Hurley who celebrated her fourth birthday last Wednesday, the 10th, and to Gregg Johnsen who celebrated on the 7th.
