Recovery under way for broken bone
Whew, what a week we had last week. I’m sure glad it’s over!
Spending time in the hospital sure makes you count your blessings
and appreciate your and your families health. Thankfully we were
only there for a broken bone that heals fairly easily, but the
little boy next to us wasn’t quite so lucky. I’m just glad we’re
home and Buddy’s on the mend.

Whew, what a week we had last week. I’m sure glad it’s over! Spending time in the hospital sure makes you count your blessings and appreciate your and your families health. Thankfully we were only there for a broken bone that heals fairly easily, but the little boy next to us wasn’t quite so lucky. I’m just glad we’re home and Buddy’s on the mend.
Thanks to all those who called, came by and sent cards to Buddy last week. Everything cheered him up a bit. He had to stay basically bed-ridden the whole week as he couldn’t put any weight on his ankle.
Once we got through the few sleepless nights due to really bad pain, the poor kid then came down with a nasty stomach flu. At least the flu took his mind off his ankle, for a while anyway. I’m guessing he probably picked up the flu bug in the hospital, so you take the good with the bad at those places. He gets his cast on this week. Then it’s back to school. He’s looking forward to getting back to school and seeing all his friends again.
Cynnie O’Connor hosted the annual pancake breakfast at Bitterwater Tully School last week. The event was another huge success as many parents, students and community members had a delicious breakfast before school. Some of those community members stopping by included: Lynn Dodge, Ruth Records, Roberta Oswald, Jo Ann Scattini, Jeff Schmidt, Lynette Hurley, Kuulei Flores and many highway patrolmen as well.
The King City High Mustang Football team opened it’s season last Saturday afternoon in Watsonville. All three teams, freshmen, junior varsity and varsity each won their games very respectfully. Rory Johnsen played a good game at quarterback for varsity while Doug Stephens had a good game for JV. The freshman team was led by quarterbacks Branson Umbarger and Zane Carrol. This week the boys will have their home opener at the Hall of Fame Game in King City on Friday night.
Speaking of football, how ’bout them Broncos? Sometimes it takes a little (or a lot) of luck to pull out a win. We were LUCKY to win that game, but, a win is a win so I’ll take it any way we can.
Many King City residents spent last Sunday at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds watching the Second Annual Destruction Derby. I haven’t gotten any results in yet, but I have a strong suspicion that the Stoughton Family were somewhere in the winners circle.
