Wrapping up summer vacation
Just a few more weeks of summer left and the weather has been
great all summer long. It has never gotten too hot nor have we had
any long, hot spells. Even though it’s been a mild summer, I’m
still ready for fall and some good old rain!
Wrapping up summer vacation

Just a few more weeks of summer left and the weather has been great all summer long. It has never gotten too hot nor have we had any long, hot spells. Even though it’s been a mild summer, I’m still ready for fall and some good old rain!

Birthday wishes go out to Edwin Mendoza who celebrated his birthday last week. My Dad has been traveling all month in China and when he called the other day to visit he told us that he spent his birthday walking on the Great Wall of China. That’s a birthday he’ll remember forever.

Buck season opened last weekend. I haven’t heard of any big buck stories yet.  Be sure to give me a call if you’d like to share your big buck story this season.

Entries are out for the San Benito County Fair.  Entries close on Aug. 31. If you haven’t gotten your entries yet, be sure to get in touch with the fair office. Entries are also out for the 31st Annual Monterey County Cattlemen’s Association Ranch Rodeo. The rodeo will take place on September 9th at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. If you haven’t received an entry, contact Vickie Sabin and she’ll be sure to get you one. Entries are due Aug. 24.

Jeff and Jean Schmidt spent a few days in Truckee last weekend as their granddaughter Melissa Popnoe was competing for the Truckee Rodeo Queen title. I haven’t heard yet how she did, but I’m sure she did well.

The kids and I spent the weekend watching the Regional Finals for the Little League World Series. It’s amazing to watch those kids play ball. They are so poised under such extreme pressure. The team from San Jose, the Moreland District Little League, who knocked us out of contention, made it all the way to the regionals down in San Bernardino. We were hoping to watch them in the Championship game but unfortunately they didn’t make it that far. The Little League World Series will begin this weekend and will be televised all week on ESPN. It really is worth watching.

Have a great week, and, if you have any news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected].
