Editor,
I get so frustrated with people who drive Highway 152, speed, and cause accidents. This latest accident with the truck carrying cookies and candy backed up traffic all the way into Merced County – another 10 miles from the top of Pacheco Pass – for a total of 20 miles.
The electronic sign was wrong. It read in Los Banos that the road was closed at the county line. To sit for three hours, for two doctor appointments that we waited a month to get, to find out yet another semitrailer was speeding, and not only risking their life, but the lives of other drivers, is deplorable.
The CHP needs to crack down on these drivers. I drive that road all the time, and either eastbound or westbound, it seems most times, we are trying to avoid a speeding semitrailer driver.
I feel like all of us who lost this time sitting, because this driver was careless, should sue the company. Maybe then drivers will be more responsible and companies will enforce a zero tolerance against speeding semitrailers.
The blessing is no innocent family or person was killed or injured because of this driver’s actions.
