Wrestling: Medina an athlete coaches embrace

Ishmael Medina is the type of athlete who coaches love and embrace. And with good reason. The San Benito High senior works hard, takes to coaching well and is diligent in the classroom. Medina wrestles at 145 pounds, has a cumulative 3.86 GPA and is taking three Advanced Placement classes this semester.

Baseball: Babe Ruth 14s take home District 1 title

The San Benito Babe Ruth 14-year-old All-Star team won the District 1 tournament in Lodi on Tuesday, winning three games by a combined score of 27-4. With the tournament victory, San Benito advanced to the Central California State Championship, held from July 13 to July 17 in Arroyo Grande. 

Tennis: Seniors give Balers an advantage

Behind a team of juniors and no seniors, the San Benito girls tennis team surprised the Tri-County Athletic League and finished in second place last fall. A year later, in the Gabilan Division of the new Monterey Bay League, expectations are sky high for the Balers.
