The Anzar High girls basketball team got their first taste of a Division V opponent last Saturday, and the outcome was unfortunately similar to the last time they played a Division V opponent, the last time they played St. Lawrence.

Playing at home against St. Lawrence, which defeated the Hawks 47-26 in last year’s Central Coast Section Division V playoffs, Anzar stayed close through one quarter but couldn’t stay afloat in the remaining three quarters as St. Lawrence delivered a 46-23 victory on Saturday.

Kelsey Robledo led the Hawks with nine points and four rebounds, while Alyssa Rodriguez supplied seven points, four rebounds and three steals.

Sydnee Masuen had four points, three rebounds and five steals and teammate Liliana Resendez added three points.

The Hawks are now 1-6 overall.

Anzar will play at Carmel on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m.
