Stanley John Moniz was born in a little house on Hale Avenue in Morgan Hill to immigrant parents who spoke English and became proud American citizens. He grew up poor and survived the Great Depression. He graduated Live Oak High School in 1935.
After high school, he worked at a San Jose cannery where he met his wife to be, Mildred Josephine Falcon. They were married in 1940, and remained a couple in love for more than 60 years.
Soon after they were married, the war broke out and Stan enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers, in which he served in New Guinea and the Philippines until war was over. Through the grace of God, he returned home safely in 1945 to Mildred and young son, Stanley Jr. Now, for Stanley John Moniz, “it’s all over”.
He is survived by his son, Stanley Calvin Moniz, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He now joins his wife Mildred in heaven.
