The San Benito County Board of Supervisors last week appointed
Rich Inman as the new county administrative officer, less than a
month after the former CAO Susan Thompson retired.
The San Benito County Board of Supervisors last week appointed Rich Inman as the new county administrative officer, less than a month after the former CAO Susan Thompson retired.

For the last month, Inman served as the interim CAO, until the board a week ago removed the interim title. Inman has worked in the county since June 2006, when he was the director of internal services and the assistant CAO.

Overall, Inman has more than 35 years of experience, according to a press release from the county. Before he came to San Benito County, Inman was the CAO in Mariposa County for three years and Imperial County for 14 years.

Before he started working for county government, Inman was an associate professor teaching public administration at San Diego State University for 20 years. Inman graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Master’s degree in public administration.
