The San Benito County Board of Supervisors is set to appoint someone to the Tres Pinos Water Board to fill the seat of former member Dee Ann Brown, who resigned in January.

It’s up to supervisors – they’ll consider it Tuesday – because the Tres Pinos Water Board had failed to appoint someone within a 30-day deadline, leaving it to the board.

The spot must be filled within 90 days of the resignation or the effective date of departure, whichever is first. Supervisors also could order the district to call for an election.

Four people have showed interest in the position. They include: Janie Lausten, Cheryl Mullen, Cassandra Spencer and Bobby Zaucha.

Brown had to resign from her position on the water board due to personal matters that required her undivided attention. Her resignation was effective Jan. 22.
