Morgan Hill police are searching for a 40-year-old man who led officers on a high-speed chase up U.S. 101, before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot.
When two officers tried to stop a green Honda Civic on Cochrane Road at U.S. 101 for multiple vehicle code violations at 5:39 p.m. Saturday, the driver, Morgan Hill resident Samuel Dolida, led police on the pursuit, according to Sgt. Shane Palsgrove.
The vehicle weaved in and out of traffic on northbound U.S. 101 and reached speeds of 85 mph, before exiting at Hellyer Avenue. Along the way the driver threw several items from the vehicle, Palsgrove said. During the pursuit on San Jose city streets, the Honda sideswiped another vehicle while trying to make a turn. At that time, Detective Mario Ramirez ended the pursuit for public safety reasons. With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol and San Jose Police Department the suspect vehicle was located at 4487 Concerto Drive. Police arrested a female passenger inside the vehicle, 29-year-old Krissy Loa of Morgan Hill, on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. San Jose Police K-9 unit conducted an extensive search of the area.
The case is under investigation. Anyone with information can contact Detective Scott Purvis or Mario Ramirez at 779-2101 or anonymously at 947-STOP (7867).
