San Benito compiled 195, finishes runner-up to Palma’s 187
MONTEREY

Marcus Synegal medaled with a par-36 and the San Benito High boys golf team carded a 195 to finish runner-up at the fifth Tri-County Athletic League Tournament of the season on Wednesday at Monterey’s Laguna Seca Golf Ranch.

Palma earned the top spot with a 187.

San Benito’s Will Cross shot a 39, while Joey Amaral, Derell Aton and Blake Stephens each recorded 40’s. Nathan Winn rounded out the team with a 42 on the day.

Salinas finished third with a 208, Gilroy was fourth with a 218, Everett Alvarez was fifth with a 227, and Alisal completed the front nine with a team score of 258.

Earlier this week, Cross and Stephens each earned top-10 medals at the Atwater Invitational at the Stevinson Ranch Golf Club. Cross shot a 6-over 78 over 18 holes, while Stephens carded an 82.

The ‘Balers compiled a team score of 327 and finished in third place out of 18 teams at Monday’s invite. Turlock earned the title with a 320, while Amador was second with a 323.

Marcus Synegal recorded an 83 for San Benito. Derell Aton and Diego Navarro completed the round with scores of 84 and 94, respectively.
