One day after it silenced visiting Alisal at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club, the San Benito High girls tennis team went on the road and did the same to host Christopher High in Gilroy, where it shut out the Cougars by a 7-0 margin.
With back-to-back wins, the Balers have now evened their season record at 3-3.
San Benito was able to get some help in a pair of matches, each of which ended in a forfeit.
At No. 1 singles, San Benito’s Hayley Barker won after her opponent Emily Barham dropped out due to injury, while the No. 3 doubles team of Anne Tobias and Kristen Klay won their match when opponents Jenni Seigl and Kayla Martinez forfeited as well.
Tobias and Klay were leading the match 6-1, 3-0 when one of their Christopher High opponents had to leave the match.
The Balers took the remaining five matches the old-fashioned way. San Benito won 60 of the remaining 67 sets played on Wednesday.
Kristina Slavich defeated Cougar Shelby O’Hara 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, Audrey Marshall topped Nubia Juarez 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3, and San Benito’s Kelsey Slavich shut out Shilo Banderas 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles spot.
In doubles, Alex Triolo and Erin Glasspool remained undefeated on the year with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Mirella Lopez and Sierra Smith, while teammates Olivia Diaz and Alex Garcia topped Sydney Feliy and Celeste Martinez 6-1, 6-0.
San Benito returns to the court for its third match in as many days on Thursday when it will host Alvarez at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. Match time is 4 p.m.
