Frank Leal, owner of the Cantina, might have more time for his other ventures now that the restaurant and bar has closed to the public.

Leal will continue to host events such as company parties,
wedding rehearsal dinners and birthday parties at both the Cantina
and his winery, Leal Vineyards, where he has an event facility.

The Cantina Grill & Tequila Bar on Airline Highway in Tres Pinos has closed its doors to the public for good except for special events.

“We are just strictly focusing on catering,” said owner Frank Leal, adding how it has been too difficult to mix the drinking crowd with the dining crowd in Tres Pinos.

“What we do best is catering,” he continued. “The whole idea in the first place was to get the commercial-grade kitchen and catering liquor license, and we’ll still have those. When you look at it, this has become a commuter town, with most people getting their dining and entertainment in Gilroy.”

Leal said that Gilroy has done a great job of “catching” people resulting in difficulties for bars, restaurants and entertainment venues in Hollister and Tres Pinos.

Leal will continue to host events such as company parties, wedding rehearsal dinners and birthday parties at both the Cantina and his winery, Leal Vineyards, where he has an event facility.

“The lights will still be on at the Cantina – the doors will still be open,” underscored Leal. “It will just be a private venue from here on out.”
