Tom died peacefully at his Morgan Hill home on Wednesday February 23, 2011 surrounded by loving family and friends. He had been suffering from cancer for three months.
Tom was born and raised in the New York city area as the only child of Valentine and Florence. He attended Clarkson College in upstate New York, receiving a degree in Business in 1954. After spending two years in the Marine Corps he worked as an auditor for the accounting firm of Arthur Young. Tom married the love of his life, Joan Jager, in 1958 and ran an equipment rental business that he started from 1964 thru 1972. In 1974 Tom moved his family to Morgan Hill or as he called it, “Gods Country”. He then earned his living tuning pianos, providing bookkeeping services and ultimately as an award winning nature photographer.
Tom had a passion for life and a great sense of humor; one did not leave his presence without having a laugh with him. He loved to travel, shoot pool with friends, play golf, watch the Warriors, and get together with his family. Later in life Tom joined the Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church. He was very involved as a deacon, with a bible study group and the OWLS group (Older & Wiser in the Lord) that he and his wife directed.
Tom leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Joan Webenbauer. He was the proud and loving father of Douglas, Christine (Mittlestead), Karen (Minteer)and Steven. He was grandfather to nine children. They will all miss him very much as he was part of their daily lives.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at the Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church, 16970 De Witt Avenue, Morgan Hill, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory be sent to Advent Group Ministries, 90 Great Oaks Blvd., Suite #108, San Jose, CA. 95119.
