San Benito County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested three people March 26 after responding to reports that someone was firing a gun outside a Hollister home.

Deputies got the call at about 8pm, and headed to the 800 block of Stallion Way.

Three males were reportedly seen in the area of the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said.

As deputies arrived, one of the men fired more rounds in an unknown direction, authorities said.

The deputies, who were outside the residence, demanded that those inside exit the building.

A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said the subjects reacted by closing the garage door and turning off the lights—but upon further orders left the premises and were detained.

After obtaining a search warrant, detectives headed inside and determined one of the men had fired multiple rounds from two firearms.

Deputies also seized four firearms, multiple gun magazines and boxes of ammunition.

Javier Fonseca Lopez, 38, was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, destruction of evidence, conspiracy, and delaying or resisting arrest. Rui Darosa, 54 faces charges of resisting or delaying arrest. Andres Garcia Duran, 43, was arrested for suspicion of conspiracy and resisting or delaying arrest .

“Discharging a firearm into the air is extremely dangerous and can have deadly consequences,” the Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said in the press release. “What goes up must come down…and those falling rounds can seriously injure or kill innocent people.”
