Robert Guerrero

Born-and-raised Gilroy resident Robert Guerrero is a six-time, four-division world champion, and the current interim WBC welterweight champion. Below is a timeline of some notable moments during his career:

Thursday, March 28, 2013: Guerrero is arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and charged with illegally traveling with an unloaded gun and three unloaded high-capacity bullet magazines

Wednesday, March 27, 2013: Guerrero celebrates his 30th birthday

Tuesday, March 26, 2013: Guerrero appears on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and ESPN’s “SportsCenter” as part of an East Coast media tour

March 2013: Guerrero leaves his native Gilroy to set up training camp in Las Vegas for Mayweather fight

February 2013: Guerrero lands title shot against undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. for WBC welterweight belt May 4 in Las Vegas

November 2012: Guerrero retains interim WBC welterweight title with unanimous decision over Andre Berto in Ontario, Calif.

July 2012: Guerrero wins interim WBC welterweight title with unanimous decision over Selcuk Aydin in San Jose

April 2011: Guerrero wins interim WBA and interim WBO lightweight titles with unanimous decision over Michael Katsidis in Las Vegas

April 2010: After giving up his IBF super featherweight title in early 2010 to help his wife, Casey, battle and eventually overcome leukemia, Guerrero returns to the ring with a technical knockout of Roberto David Arrieta in Las Vegas

August 2009: Guerrero wins IBF super featherweight title with unanimous decision over Malcolm Klassen in Houston

June 2006: Guerrero avenges his only defeat, winning back the NABF featherweight title with a sixth-round knockout of Diaz in Oakland

March 2006: Guerrero suffers his only defeat, losing his NABF featherweight title with a split decision to Gamaliel Diaz in Lemoore

December 2004: Guerrero wins his first major belt, the NABF featherweight title, with a fourth-round knockout of Cesar Figueroa in Temecula

April 2001: Guerrero wins his professional debut, a unanimous decision over Alejandro Cruz in Indio, Calif.
