Let them know of your interests and your willingness to help. They have people who can point you in the right direction and show you what forms need to be filled out and what procedures need to be followed.

People can attend the commission meetings every final Tuesday of the month to find out more about how they can help.

“The biggest thing is just to ask because we don’t know who you are,” said Robert Baumgartner, the Chairman of the City Parks and Recreation. “Look to the service clubs because that is what they are all about.”

There may be clubs like Kiwana’s who can help out with the insurance.

“If we have to drop any more programs, you better bet that I will be calling the presidents of some of the local clubs and asking if they can help with the insurance of some of these programs like the Kiwana’s did,” Baumgartner said. “Insurance is one of the biggest stumbling blocks.”

In addition to softball, one program that was able to be saved with some help was the recreational swimming program.

The sessions will be beginning on July 6 and will run Monday to Friday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at San Benito High School. The cost is $3.
