Top 5: Veterans Day festivities; ‘Sounds of Brass’ and more

Veterans Day Parade: The Veterans Day Parade will take place Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. in downtown Hollister. The day’s festivities will start with a resource fair for veterans, a moment of silence at 11:11 a.m. and a barbecue lunch at noon, followed by the parade. Veterans Day Breakfast: San Benito County LULAC will host its 19th annual Veterans Breakfast at the San Benito High School Cafeteria, Nov. 11, 7 a.m. to noon. The guest speaker this year will be State Assemblymember Luis Alejo. Breakfast is $8, with proceeds benefiting the 2013 LULAC scholarship fund. Details: 831-673-1977 or www.sbclulac.org

‘Sounds of Brass’: The YMCA and Save the Music present the 12th annual benefit concert by Pacific Brass, British-style brass band, performing “Sounds of Brass,” Nov. 10, at 2 p.m., at San Justo Middle School, 1201 Rancho Dr. Admission is $25 per family, up to five people, $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, children 12 and under free with paid adult. Proceeds benefit Hollister elementary school music and middle school sports programs. Tickets available at YMCA of San Benito County, Mr. O’s Academy, Postal Graphics and Ace Hardware.

Holiday boutique: Sunnyslope Christian Center is having their annual Christmas Boutique on Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1520 Sunnyslope Road, Hollister. Christmas items, various vendors, Mexican food and pictures with Santa from 10 a.m. to noon.

Mommy and Me Art and Tea: The San Benito Arts Council will host a Mommy and Me Art and Tea for families (fathers are welcome) Nov. 10, from noon to 5 p.m., at the Blak Sage Gallery, 727 San Benito St. Cookies and tea will be served as families engage in an art project.
