After two years on the job, County Administrative Officer Rich Inman has announced his resignation.
San Benito County Board supervisors issued a press statement Thursday noting they accepted the resignation of the CAO, effective Jan. 9.
The release came Thursday afternoon after the supervisors called a special board meeting to discuss a closed session item listed as “public employee discipline/dismissal/release.”
On Monday, Supervisor Margie Barrios said the supervisors had not received an official resignation from Inman. The day prior to the meeting, Supervisor Robert Rivas said he could not discuss the personnel item or confirm if it was related to Inman, but said any reportable action would be shared with the public after the meeting.
Supervisor Jaime De La Cruz delivered the press release that said the board will take prompt action to fill the vacancy, with plans to discuss options to replace Inman at its meeting Oct. 16.
Inman was hired in June 2006 as the assistant county administrative officer/internal services director. He was promoted in 2010 to county administrative officer when Susan Thompson retired from the position.
“The Board of Supervisors commends Mr. Inman for his years of service with the county,” the statement read.
After the meeting, Rivas said the supervisors want to “get the ball rolling and get a replacement.”
“As a board, I’m excited because it’s an opportunity to go after someone who is going to bring some change to our county, from a policy perspective,” Rivas said. “I hope because of the budget, we find a replacement soon.”
