The Hollister Tremors 11-year-old travel baseball team won its
first tournament of the year in the Peter J. Aldrete Memorial last
weekend.
In the five games, played in Monterey, Marina and Salinas,
Hollister outscored its opponents 33-6. A strong defense helped the
Hollister team, which is full of All-Stars.

“The kids are having fun, and they play good baseball,” said manager Jerry Sepulveda. “Defensively we don’t give up anything. We’re just trying to figure out how to play in tournaments. When we move guys around, others are starting to fill in. The depth is showing.”
It was the team’s fourth tournament of the year. Hollister is 15-3 after finished second once and third twice in the previous tournaments.
Daniel Arevalo continued to have a hot bat for Hollister, and he got it done defensively at shortstop. Andre Lucas, in right field, threw out several runners at first base.
Hollister 4, Triple Crown 2
Hollister opened up the tournament with a 4-2 victory over Triple Crown from San Jose.
Arevalo had a long three-run home run in third inning to make it 4-2. He also had an RBI double in first inning. Oscar Ramirez pitched four innings. Cooper Sepulveda and Jazhiel Gonzales combined to close out the game.
Hollister 4, Los Altos 3
Hollister was down 3-2 going into the sixth inning against the Los Altos Rebeles. With two out, Mark Hurley had a single to right field, and then Arevalo hit a walkoff home run to win it.
Hollister 6, ABA 0
Daren Gillies hit a three-run home run as part of a five-run first inning. Arevalo and Kallin Corotto combined to shut out the ABA Rebels, giving up just two hits.
Hollister 9, Silicon Valley 0
Ricky Garcia pitched all five innings and gave up just one hit against the Silicon Valley Hornets.
Arevalo was 3-for-3 with another home run. Garcia, Hurley and Corotto were all 2-for-3. Bryan Granger was 1 for 2 with a double.
Hollister 10, Silicon Valley 1
Gonzales pitched four innings and Ramirez pitched the final inning in of the championship game at the Salinas Sports Complex against the Silicon Valley Rivercats.
Garcia went 3-for-3, Sepulveda was 2-for-3 with a triple, Ramirez went 1-for-1 with a pair of walks, Corotto had a triple and Will Cross was 1-for-2.
